Weight Management Program
This weight management program is designed to integrate the understanding of genetics, the microbiome, and lifestyle factors into a comprehensive approach for effective weight management and disease reversal. The program comprises three core components: education, personalized interventions, and ongoing support.
1. Testing and Education
Genetics/Metabolic Testing
Understanding Genetic Factors: Testing will allow the discussion of how genetics play a role in metabolism, fat distribution, and appetite regulation for each individual. This will allow for personalized weight management strategies to be developed.
Metabolic testing to establish a baseline risk profile with regard to Cardiovascular risk, Stroke risk, risk for developing Diabetes and Hypertension.
General lab and hormone testing will also be done to ensure no underlying conditions are contributing to weight loss resistance.
Microbiome
Microbiome Diversity: Microbiome testing will allow staff to educate participants on the importance of a diverse microbiome in promoting a healthy weight and reducing inflammation and to address any imbalances that may be influencing the weight loss journey.
2.Lifestyle Factors/Interventions:
Importance of Physical Activity: Following an intake with a personal trainer to assess baseline physical fitness level, a personalized weight management exercise plan will be developed with an emphasis on the importance of aerobic and strength-training exercises, flexibility and balance.
Sleep and Stress Management: Using data from wearable devices, we will assess individual sleep quality and educate on the influence of sleep quality and stress on weight regulation, highlighting strategies for improving sleep hygiene and stress reduction.
Tailored Nutritional Guidelines: Use genetic insights to create individualized meal recommendations that align with metabolic profiles.
Food Sensitivity Assessments: If desired and appropriate, assessments will be offered to identify any food sensitivities that may hinder weight management efforts.
3. Ongoing Support and Community Engagement
Monthly Workshops: Access to workshops focusing on genetics, microbiome health, and lifestyle changes, led by experts in nutrition, genetics, and behavioral health.
Peer Support Groups: Invitation to group exercise options for participants to share experiences, challenges, and successes in their weight management journey.
Regular Follow-Ups: Regular check-ins with Health Coach/ Functional Nutritionist and Physician.
Goals and Outcomes
Weight Loss and Maintenance: We aim for gradual, safe and sustainable weight loss through personalized interventions.
